The roads in Byron Bay are the worst I've ever driven on in Australia. I was amazed at the poor condition of them. And the pot holes, wow, everywhere! I've seen smoother dirt roads with less pot holes. For a town with so many visitors that come by road there is insufficient parking.
The roads of Byron bay are disgusting. For a tourism town that thrives upon its alcohol, substances and night life. The quality of the roads can by no means support the ability of people to drive or god forbid bike around town. The pot holes are more plentiful than the stoners of Nimbin and the cracks more numerous than the netted outfits that every store stocks.Other than that an amazing town.Kind regards,My newly pug like face.
My wife and I arrived in Byron Bay on July 13th,2013 for the weekend as part of our vacation in Australia.Within an hour of unloading our luggage at our apartment in Lawson Street we went for a drive downtown.Cruising up and down Jonson Street we looked carefully for parking signs and parking spots. After parking our car we went for a stroll around the inner precincts of the town stopping to have cappuccinos and look into some shops. When we got back to our car there was a parking infringement notice for $101 stuck under a wiper blade.Upon more careful examination we found a small standing sign about 40 feet from our car which read 1P which apparently means 1 hour parking. It would be nice if the sign was 5 times bigger and in a more prominent position than hiding under a tree.Of course over the weekend the feedback we got from shop owners is that the Byron Shire Council are a mob of wankers who hate tourists,in fact hate everybody.Take a look at the disgusting condition of the public rest rooms in front of the Railway Hotel...not fit for a dog.And where are the pedestrian crossings throughout the town so visitors or anybody for that matter can cross the streets safely. We weren't very impressed.Get your act together Byron Shire Council or get out.
How about you keep an eye on the parking at the Brunswick markets? People constantly parking in front of our garage. They ignore practically all the signs on the street as well.
So clean and nice people great work everyone I felt like one of you keep up the great work!!!
